Plan your Texas Hunting Trip

Planning for your Texas Trophy Whitetail Hunt or Exotic Hunt should not be hard.  But to make sure your experience hunting with the Cross Oaks Ranch is a great one, we have compiled a list of information to help you prepare for your hunt and stay.

Weather

The weather could be perfect for your hunt, but there are times when the weather tends to take a turn for the worse.  Take a moment to look at our current weather and the forcast for your trip.  We just want you to be focused on your hunt rather than staying warm or dry!

Airports

The Cross Oaks Ranch is located in the Texas Hill Country, a twenty-five mile region of Texas. Rugged terrain provide great hunting opportunities for all types of sportsmen.  We have two airports that work best for a flight to our operations here in Texas.

  • San Angelo Regional Airport - SJT / KSJT has a 8049 ft runway. American Airlines and Private Planes.
  • Brady-Curtis Field Airport - KBBD has a 4605 ft runway. Private Planes.

Big Game Trophy Hunting Gear

Hunting for big game in Texas is a once in a lifetime opportunity, we suggest the following items or supplies to make sure you are comfortable and ready for your hunt with us at The Cross Oaks Ranch.

  • Texas Hunting License- Licenses are easy to get at many local stores.
  • Proof of hunters safety if born on or after 9/2/71 (Contact us for more info)
  • Rifle - We reccomend the following  - .270, .30-06, .300 or similiar calibers (Contact us on bow hunting)
  • Ammo for rifle - We recommend at least 40 rounds, you will need to sight in your gun. A wounded animal does count as a kill.
  • Waterproof gear in case of rain. Warm clothing depending on weather.
  • Protective Eyewear
  • Camo patterned clothing - not required though
  • Snake Boots
  • Binoculars and or Spotting Scope
  • Camera, batteries and film
  • Personal Items - Toothbrush, Medicines, Etc.
