Cross Oaks Ranch Staff & Hunting Guides

Members of the Cross Oaks Ranch family all share a passion for the outdoors and sharing it with others. We work as a team to achieve one main goal: A great hunting experience for every client that visits us. From the moment hunters arrive, the Cross Oaks Ranch Team takes great pride in the professionalism, friendliness, and care that each staff member provides. We only use guides and cooks that we trust to uphold our reputation. Most are actual family and close friends that we know will make each guests trip a special one. Jason Cross- Hunting and Operations Manager/Guide

Whitney Cross- Head Cook/Lodge Manager

Jason started the hunting operations at the Cross Oaks Ranch while attending college at Angelo State University. Upon graduating he began expanding operations to what it is today. While Jason enjoys guiding for others, he also enjoys hunting as a hobby for himself. Jason has hunted in Africa, New Zealand, and across North America.

Jason proudly serves as an Officer on the Board of Directors for the San Angelo Chapter of Safari Club International, as the Secretary. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Wildlife Association. Jason is also a member of the NRA.

Whtiney and Jason Met in highschool and were married after college. Whitney is now the head cook and lodge manager. Whitney also enjoys the outdoors and hunting. Besides cooking for others, whitney also enjoys baking for family and friends.

During the Season Jason and Whitney reside at the Cross Oaks Ranch with their dog, Buddy.

Roger Elliott- Ranch Manager/Head Guide

Roger is the Ranch Manager for the Cross Oaks Ranch and the Head Guide. Roger has more years of experience than he would wish for us to mention. He has had a life long passion for hunting, especially with a bow. Roger is always requested by previous hunters who have had the priviledge to hunt with him. Roger resides at the Cross Oaks Ranch with his wife, Mae.


Jimmy Johns- Ranch Assistant/Guide

Jimmy works full time on the ranch assisting with day to day operations and Guiding. He brings with him years of experience in Ranch work and hunting. Jimmy is also a military veteran.

Melinda Johns- Cook/Lodging Assistant

Melinda also works full time on the ranch assisting with cooking for hunts and running the lodge. She brings with her many years of experience in cooking and hospitality.

Jimmy and Melinda Reside at the Cross Oaks Ranch, with their 3 sons.

Bill Lohn- Guide/Cook

Bill serves as one of the main guides for the Cross Oaks Ranch. He also cooks on a few hunts once in a while. Bill is a master at BBQ and Smoking. Bill has many years of experience guiding and helping ranches with game management. At the Cross Oaks Ranch, Bill also assists with game management and other ranch projects. He is an avid bowhunter and a self admitted gun addict. He is the owner and Operator of Lohn Custom Sprayers Pest Control Service. He Resides a few minutes from the Ranch with his Wife, Jackie.

John Cross- Cattle Manager/Guide/Cook

John guides for the Cross Oaks Ranch and occassionaly helps with cooking. He is also the Ranch's Cattle Manager. John is one of our best at judging whitetails in the field. He spends a good amount of time working on the wiildlife management plan for the ranch. Also, John has had a long carreer in the Cattle and Beef Industry. In his spare time John enjoys traveling, hunting, church, and spending time with his family. John resides in San Angelo, Texas with his Wife Sharon.

Travis Elliot-Guide

Travis has guided for the Cross Oaks Ranch for several years. He periodically helps with work around the ranch. Travis grew up in Brady and is currently working in the oil industry. He is an avid bowhunter, even making his own arrow heads for his traditional bows. He enjoys the outdoors and working with his lab, Scout. Travis Resides in San Angelo, Texas.

Bob Zaiglin M.S., Certified Wildlife Biologist- Ranch Biologist

Bob is the Cross Oaks Ranch's Wildlife Biologist. He has assisted the ranch in creating and implementing an aggressive management program to produce the quality animals we now all enjoy. Bob has spent over 30 years as a private land wildlife biologist. He serves as the Department Chair and Coordinator for the wildlife Management Program at South West Texas Junior College. Bob is one of the most recognized and respected whitetail deer biologists and naturalists in the country. Bob has won numerous awards, written many articles, Published two books, and given lectures at various events. When not working, he enjoys traveling the world hunting and photographing different species.

Jimmy Shepherd- Cook

Jimmy helps with cooking at the Cross Oaks Ranch a few times each season. He usually helps on larger groups and brings some new ideas each time. He is great at grilling, bbq, and anything meat related. Jimmy has more time to help us now, after retiring from a long career in the court system. Not only is Jimmy a great friend, but a big part of our family. He resides in San Antonio, Texas with his Wife, Shirley.


Terry Dellinger-Guide

Terry guides and assists with game management and surveys at the Cross Oaks Ranch. He also helps with ranch projects from time to time. In his spare time Terry enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends/family. He runs his families large plumbing business as his day to day job. Terry resides in Brownfield, Texas with his dog Gunner.

Tim Hendley-Guide/Cook

Tim has assisted with hunts as a cook and guide at the Cross Oaks Ranch. Hes helped with a variety of different things at the ranch including game management. Tim Grew up in Brady and has had a successful carreer at the local sand plant. He resides in Brady, Texas with his wife Kim.

Mickey Vick-Cook

Mickey has cooked off and on for the Cross Oaks Ranch since operations began. He has his own Custom Farming and Show Goat Business, Vick Show Goats. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and casino's. Mickey resides in San Angelo, Texas with his wife Sharon.
